Our Seven Pillars

Authentic, Historical, Responsible

Authentic, Historical, Responsible

We at Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Khaki are dedicated to upholding our Seven Pillars of Authenticity and assure that reflect the seven core values of our brand.

Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Khaki is:

  • A historical, commemorative, aide-memoire to the life of TE Lawrence, later known as TE Shaw, and most famously as Lawrence of Arabia
  • A certified and officially registered tartan design –  #11062 – with The Scottish Register of Tartans
  • A unique design with a colourful narrative purpose, and as such, is a registered patent #4033956 and is trademarked #UK00003045982 with the UK Intellectual Property Office
  • Proudly made in Scotland by our craft partners, who are prestigious holders of a Royal Warrant for HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay for the manufacture and supply of Estate Tweeds
  • Crafted by skilled artisans using 200-year old heritage methods and machinery in the last vertical mill in Scotland, with a historic and illustrious reputation
  • Supportive of ethical, environmental and sustainable projects, as well as apprenticeships and educational programmes mainly through our craft partners who are also founder members of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance, SFA
  • Our tartan encourages charitable giving, via percentage proceeds donations to Seven specific charities chosen for their connection to the TE Lawrence story

Ou Phrontis Certificate of Authenticity

Ou povtis or Ou Phrontis is a Greek phrase meaning ‘no worries’ or ‘who cares’, and was carved by TE Lawrence above the doorway to his Dorset home, Clouds Hill. In keeping with the ethos of Lawrence, we at Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Khaki care to assure our customers of our values and promises as a responsible Heritage brand in offering a ‘no worries’ Ou Phrontis Certificate of Authenticity with every tartan purchase.
